James William "Bill" Miller, 82, Hutchinson, died March 14, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born Aug. 14, 1927, near Partridge to Frank Zeno and Gladys Hambrick Miller.
He was a lifetime resident of Reno County. Bill was employed by Ark Valley Electric Coop Association for 45 years, retiring as a line superintendent in 1992. He was an Army Air Corps veteran with 622nd Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron of World War II, an active life member of local AmVets Post 11, serving as a local post and state commander, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68 and Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed gardening, tending cattle, fishing, camping and attended South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.
On June 30, 1962, he married Donna Faye Crabb at Sterling. She died Aug. 25, 1983. Then on Jan. 1, 1984, he married Peggy Parrish Anderson in Hutchinson.
Other survivors and their spouses include: three sons, Ron and Becky Vincent, Hutchinson, Don and Jan Miller, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Ron and Jill Anderson, Lawrence; four daughters, Carla and Don Cavin, Dewey, Okla., Judy and Dennis Gabehart, Hutchinson, Gayle and Al Howell, St. Johns, Ariz., Shelly and Daryn Dunn, Irrigon, Ore.; a brother, Lewis F., Nuveo, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; five brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Austin, Earl and Walter; and a sister, Cora Rose Gregory.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Ault-Duell officiating. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with family gathering 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Fort Riley Honor Guard will render military honors at Partridge Cemetery.
