James E. Cunningham Sr., 86, died May 12, 2022, at his home. He was born June 11, 1935, in Haynesville Township, Pratt County, to Everett and Marsha (Bartlett) Cunningham.

James worked as a carpenter. In his spare time he was a "junker" and loved to haul cars. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

James is survived by: wife, Velma Cunningham, Hutchinson; sons, Carl E. Cunningham, James E. Cunningham Jr., both of Hutchinson; daughter, Christine Janelle Harrison, Ness City; stepdaughter, Melissa Jack, Florida; and stepson, Warren Smith Jr., Topeka.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Julie Cunningham; siblings, Norma Fry, Carol Cunningham, Patsy Story, Marilyn Wilbanks, and Dennis Cunningham.

Graveside service will be 1:30 pm Friday, May 20, 2022, at Fairlawn Burial Park, with Pastor Richard Haley officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
