Obituary

James D. "Jim" Lively, 80, died Friday morning on April 10, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born March 20, 1935, to Hugh and Inez Lively, he lived most of his life in Hutchinson, with brief residences in Newton and Great Bend.

He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1953. Shortly after graduation from high school, Jim served with the United State Navy and Reserves.

On February 2, 1958, he married Evelyn Marie Fox. They had two daughters, Diane and Karen.

Jim began his career as a printer and later became a printer paper sales representative. He worked for Central Press, Hutchinson, Newton Kansan newspaper, Whelen Printing, Great Bend, Southworth Printings, Hutchinson, Hutchinson Paper Company, and the Butler Paper Company, Wichita.

Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, where he served for more than 45 years as a radio announcer for the church's weekly broadcast on KWBW. He was a longtime volunteer at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, and Hospice and Home Care of Reno County. Following heart surgery, Jim was a faithful participant and volunteer with the Hutchinson Hospital Cardiac Rehab Program. He was also an active member of the Post Polio Survivors Organization.

A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jim is survived by: his wife, Evelyn, of Hutchinson; daughters, Diane and partner Marie of Stockhom, Sweden, and Karen Lively-Antons and husband Tim, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Christopher Osborn and girlfriend Tracy, Brittany Osborn and boyfriend Chris; and great-granddaughter, Alivia Osborn, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jim was preceded in death by his sister, June Taylor Lively.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Memorials gifts may be made in his name to Hospice and Home Care of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
