James A. Davis, 70, died June 5, 2011, at his home in Hutchinson.
He was born Dec. 21, 1940, to Wayne G. and Margaret Trussel Davis at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson.
Jim attended school in Hutchinson, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1960. He completed basic training in Fort Bragg in 1961, and then joined the Army National Guard, followed by the Air National Guard for a total of 13 years. He worked as a machinist for Cessna/Eaton Corporation for 40 years. James was a member of the Loyal Order Of The Moose #982, he was also an avid bowler and KC Chiefs football fan. James also enjoyed collecting hotwheels cars.
On Aug. 2, 1971, he married Marcia A. Harris in Hutchinson, Kan. They later divorced. He is survived by a son, David W. Davis of Hutchinson; two nephews, Burtt and Bart Roberts; and a brother-in-law, Stuart Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janice M. Roberts, and a nephew, Brett Lee Roberts.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, with Reverend Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
