James R. Dole, 75, died April 28, 2014, at his home in Burrton. He was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Burrton, to J.C. "Cliff" Dole and Ruth (Stanley) Dole.

On April 13, 1987, he married Pamela Keel. Jim was an entrepreneur, who owned and operated Arrow Machine in Hutchinson for 25 years. After selling that business, Jim built Pamico, Inc. in Burrton. He worked until his illness took his strength. Jim was a big supporter of Burrton. He was raised there by (in his opinion) the best parents. He loved his childhood and wanted to give back to Burrton. He donated a building for the Senior Center (J.C. "Cliff" and Ruth Dole Senior Center) and a building with furnishings for the Ruth Dole Memorial Library and a park in their names. Jim also donated to many charities.

Jim is survived by: his wife, Pamela Dole, of the home; three sons, Tony Dole and wife Cindy, Goddard, Bradley Dole, Hutchinson, and James Dole and wife Tiffany, Burrton; stepson, Cliff Dole and wife Jill, Minnesota; stepdaughter, Heidi Dole, Hutchinson; sister, Margery (Dole) Howell, Hutchinson; brother, William Michael Dole, Burrton; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Scott Lane Dole; two sisters; and three brothers.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at the First Christian Church of Burrton with Pastor Charles Kerr officiating. Inurnment will be in Burrton Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
