Obituary

James Fred Pike, 81, died Oct. 18, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born April 19, 1934, in Hopewell, to Rowland Ansil and Wilberta Elizabeth (Debo) Pike. He graduated from Partridge High School.

He was a member of IBEW Union, Thoroughbred Association, and a lifetime member of A.M. Vets. Fred loved to raise Thoroughbred horses and race them. In 2000, Fred retired from Ark Valley Electric after 42 years, as a High Voltage Electrician.

Fred married Myrna Wynn in 1956. They divorced. She died May 10, 2015. He married Lillian Marker on July 12, 1987, in Garden City. She survives.

Other survivors include: daughters, Annette Pike of Geneseo, Debbie Yoder and husband Steve of Cheney, Beth Ann Bolia of Ark City, Nancy Turner and husband Norman of Lyons; step-children, Pamela Doan of Ft. Collins, Colo., Lynn Marker and wife Shelly of Lubbock, Texas, Travis and Keith Marker of Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Vina Pike of Arlington, Margie Allen and husband Russ of Scott City, Debby Beeson of South Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jimmy Dode Pike and Albert Butch Pike; grandson, Jeffery Smith; and siblings, Smokey, Cleda and JoAnn.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary with Pastor Howard Wagler presiding. Burial will follow in Hazen Cemetery, rural Plevna. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
