James F. Hill, 81, died Dec. 10, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Muskogee, Okla., the son of Frank and Sadie Simmons Hill.

He was an independent plumber, having worked for several area companies in addition to running his own business.

He was a member of Bethany Church of The Nazarene. He was awarded the Best Plumber Award of Hutchinson, former member of Amvets Post #11 and Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 AF and AM, and 11th Street McDonald's "Coffee Club." He served in the U.S. Army.

On Feb. 19, 1972, he married Laura R. Bebb in Hutchinson. She died Jan. 12, 2004.

Survivors include: two sons, Mark Hill and wife Jo Anne, Hutchinson, and Frank Skeen, Arlington, Texas; three daughters, Terry Trero, Conroe, Texas, Linda Thornburg and husband Jeff, Hutchinson, and Tonya Hill, Wichita; a brother, Robert, Salisaw, Okla.; a sister, Bonnie Hill, Salisaw, Okla.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Bertha Hill, Woodward, Okla., and Sharon Noll and husband Craig, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Ronald Bebb, Hutchinson; and a beloved friend, Junior Buck. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry, a grandson, Billy Trero, three brothers, Jack, Fred, Melvin, a sister, Gracie Hill, and mother-in-law, Dorothy Byers.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at Bethany Church of The Nazarene, Hutchinson, with Pastor Darrell Bisel officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
