Obituary

James F. "Jim" Kimble, 58, died Oct. 14, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Sept. 2, 1951, in Tanana, Alaska, the son of James A. and Elizabeth "Betty" Reiley Kimble. He was a graduate of West Anchorage High School, Anchorage, Alaska.

He worked his way up from box boy to retire as manager of Lucky's Grocery, Las Vegas. He spent some time traveling by motorcycle before moving to Hutchinson in 1998, where he currently was a painter with McKenzie's Body Shop.

Survivors include: longtime companion, Brenda Sue Reed, of the home; sons, Mike Abernathy and Chad and wife Bonny Abernathy, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Michelle Abernathy, Hutchinson; mother; sisters, twins Susan Braik, Sequim, Wash., and Joan Elmore, Bothell, Wash.; granddaughters, Trinity Copeland, Hutchinson, and Kristen Abernathy, Jacksonville, Fla.; brother-in-law, Scott Reed, Hutchinson; two nieces and nephews, all of Wash.; and niece Amanda Reed, Clovis N.M. He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Howard Wagler officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Saturday at the mortuary. Cremation has taken place.

Memorials may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Kansas Chapter, in care of the mortuary.
