James Reimer Porter, 81, was welcomed into Heaven on January 5, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. James was born on June 22, 1941, in Meade, KS, to Wallace and Lila (Dykstra) Porter.

Jim, or as some knew him, "Flash", graduated Little River High School in 1959. He worked as an electrician in the oil and gas industry and was a heavy equipment operator on many construction sites. On March 30, 1985, Jim married Patricia Ann Kelso, in Geneseo, KS. Jim and Patricia Shared 37 years of marriage where they were blessed by spending time with family. He loved collecting coins and finding treasures while metal-detecting. He was a huge fan of the KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs, and never missed a game. Jim's greatest passion was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He was always their biggest cheerleader.

Jim is survived by: wife, Patricia Porter, Lyons; children, Jim (Judy) Porter, Bushton, Cathy (Dan) LaTourell, Sterling, Melinda (Alan) Moore, Lyons, and John Ray, Lyons; brothers, Stan Porter, Little River, Richard Porter, Lenora, KS and Leroy Porter, Raymore, MO; sisters, Nancy Burroughs, Joplin MO and Lois Lung, Salina, KS; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Jim is preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Jerry Porter; and two grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Chase House of Prayer, 508 Main, Chase, KS, 67524, with a light luncheon to follow.
