Obituary

James Leroy 'Jim' Whiteford, 72, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 10, 1947, in Sumner, IA, the son of Charles L. and Ruth J. (Edel) Whiteford.

Jim graduated from high school in Maynard, IA, and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1967-1971. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Bombardier in Wichita. Jim enjoyed woodworking and working on cars. He was especially proud of his rebuilt 1926 Roadster. Jim was also a military history buff and enjoyed collecting WW2 memorabilia. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Hutchinson.

On February 3, 1984, Jim married Teresa J. 'Teri' Davison in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: niece, Jeri Brown (Tom), Kansas City, MO; cousin, Bill Whiteford (Ann), Sumner, IA; mother-in-law, Paulette Davison, Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Colleen Davison, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Linda Modlinski; and father-in-law, Kent Davison.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at First Congregational Church, 3410 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force honor guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice House, Hutchinson, or Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
