NICKERSON - James E. Meyers, 65, died July 31, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Feb. 20, 1941, in Craborchard, Ky., the son of John and Stella Lamb Bar-ger Sparks. A Nickerson resident since 1995, moving from Hutchinson, he was an independent food vendor.
On March 27, 1992, he married Velma Turner Wyatt in Ulysses. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jimmy and Russell Meyers, both of Garden City; a daughter, Michelle Burg, Wake Forest, N.C.; four stepchildren, Jim Duncan, Cedar Vale, Cecil Wayne Duncan, Hutchinson, Kimberly Wallace, Tulsa, Okla., and Terrence Johnson, Nampa, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Charles Sparks.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to Salvation Army or Emanuel Lutheran Church, both in care of the funeral home, Hutchinson.
