James Christian "Jim" Senko, 82, died Oct. 28, 2007, at Golden Plains Heath Care Center.
He was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Ellinwood, the son of Anton Clarence and Edna Katherine Hermes Senko. He was a 1942 graduate of Ellinwood High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was a retired master machinist, having worked for Dresser Atlas Industries, Houston, and Master Machine and Tool, South Hutchinson. He served the U.S. Navy in World War II.
He belonged to Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 612, VFW Bob Campbell Post No. 1361 and the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68.
On Nov. 19, 1951, he married LaVona B. Watt in Great Bend. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Aaron A., Hutchinson, Dennis L., Carrollton, Ill., and Mark D. and wife, Rose, Hutchinson; a daughter, Christina Jo Locke and husband, Curtiss, Bay City, Texas; two brothers, Neil, Salinas, Calif., and Phil, Aurora, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.
Rosary will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday and memorial service will immediately follow at Elliott Chapel, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Ellinwood Cemetery at a later date. Body was donated to KU Medical Center.
