James Patrick Sheahan, 85, died March 28, 2016, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. He was born March 2, 1931, in Kingman, to William L. and Mabel (Rowley) Sheahan.
James graduated from Zenda High School in 1949. James was a truck driver for Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroad Companies and was a parish member of Church of the Holy Cross.
James married Lois Shephard. She died Feb. 14, 1982. He later married Jerry Diane (Peters) Simmons on Sept. 9, 1988, at Church of the Holy Cross. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Laurie Jean Bradley of Simpsonville, SC, Darren Patrick Sheahan and wife Shannon of Simpsonville, SC, Rodney Dean Simmons and wife Susan of South Hutchinson; sisters, Judy Hageman and husband Daniel of Kingman, Patricia Roberts of Texas; brother, Dennis Sheahan and wife Marilyn of Texas; brother-in-law, Dean Peters and wife Jere of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Gerald and Lawrence Sheahan; sisters, Rose Mary Kerschen, Elaine Wells and Rita Ann Reida.
Parish rosary will be at 10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Roger Lumbre presiding. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Willowdale, with Father Curtis Robertson presiding, and Military Honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
