ARLINGTON - James Vern Sitton, 94, died March 18, 2006, at Golden Plains Care Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Preston, the son of Otho Gragford "OG" and Mamie Haines Sitton. A longtime resident of Arlington, moving to Hutchinson in 2002, he was a farmer and owned Sitton Mechanic Shop.
He belonged to Arlington United Methodist Church.
On May 22, 1935, he married Geneva R. Feese in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Verna A. Rickett and her husband, Gene, Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Greg Rickett, Carolyn S. Kidd and her husband, Jim, and Sharon Wooten, all of Hutchinson; four great-grandchildren, Mark Gregg and his wife, Jessica, and Keith Gregg, all of Hutchinson, Zach Rickett, Nickerson, and Megan Kidd, Hutchinson; and two great-great-granddaughters, Cassidy and Emily Gregg, Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur; and a sister, Viola Wedel.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Arlington Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to Arlington United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of the funeral home.
