Obituary

Jan M. Gajewski, 83, died March 9, 2014, at Hospice House. She was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Emporia, to Kent and Cosette (Menery) Snedeger.

Jan graduated from Grand Island High School, Grand Island, Nebraska, in 1948, and from Salt City Business College. She was in the Civil Air Patrol, a member of the Eagle's Lodge and Moose Lodge. Jan was a telephone sales manager at Sears and also had Unique Antique Shop and Ski's Bait Shop.

In 1955, she married Alfred Gajewski. He died Aug. 17, 2001.

She is survived by: children, Kent Gajewski and wife Annie, Paul Gajewski and April Gajewski, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, David Gajewski and wife Dr. Annabel Mancillias of Wichita, Jordan Gajewski of Hutchinson, Summer Gajewski of Salina; great-grandchildren, James and Allie Gajewski. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend Lowell Knauss officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the mortuary.
