Jan Wesley Overton's Obituary
Jan Wesley Overton, 59, died March 5, 2014, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Nov. 7, 1954, in Hutchinson, to Jack W. and Virginia Upton Overton.
Jan was a forklift driver for 35 years at Eaton Corporation and then a custodian at Prosperity Grade School for five years. He was a strong force in the Equality Coalition of Kansas.
He married Edward R. Stein on Jan. 23, 2014, in Des Moines, Iowa. He survives.
Survivors include: his husband, Ed of Hutchinson; many friends who have become "family" to him over the years; and stepmother, Ruth Overton of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. Jan's Farewell Party will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the home of Wes and Anne Theissen, 505 W. 25th Avenue in Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
