Jane Thayer McKee of Lake Oswego, OR, passed away at home peacefully June 9, 2024. She was with her husband Roger McKee, daughter Marcella Wentz, and son-in-law Nick Wentz.
She was born in Great Bend, Kansas to Edwin and Cora Lou Child Thayer. The Thayer family moved to Hutchinson, in 1954, where Jane attended public schools. Jane earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in 1970. She moved to Eugene, OR and graduated in 1981 with a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Oregon. Jane met her beloved husband, Roger, in 1986.. They moved to Lake Oswego in 1989 with one-year old daughter, Marcella.
Jane began her pursuit of a career of acupuncture at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland in 1990. She became a licensed acupuncturist in 1994 and opened her first acupuncture and wellness clinic in Tualatin, OR later that year.
Jane was on a never-ending quest to learn in order to better support her patients, family, friends, and anyone with whom she crossed paths. Jane was a highly regarded acupuncturist and clinic owner. She was recognized as a leader in the acupuncture and oriental medicine field in the SW Portland/Tigard area.
Jane enjoyed friendships with individuals from all stages of her life; childhood friends, friends from school, clinic patients, local acupuncturists and practitioners. In her free time, she loved to take tennis and fitness classes with friends and travel to warm destinations with her family.
Jane is survived by her husband; daughter Marcella Wentz and son-in-law Nick Wentz; sister and brother-in-law Susan and Kevin Kienzle; nephews Jacob Thayer and Daniel Thayer; and brother Mike Thayer.
A celebration of life for the family is planned for this fall. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Hospice Support organization of your choice.
