Obituary

Janet Kay Brown, 68, passed away January 8, 2022, at her home.  She was born September 16, 1953, in Hutchinson, KS, to Harold D. and Beverly N. (White) Brown.

Janet was a 1971 graduate of Nickerson High School, Nickerson, KS.  She received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS.  Janet was a Human Resources Office Administrative Assistant with the Hutchinson News, retiring with 26 years of service.

She enjoyed listening to music.  Janet dearly loved being around her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  Janet had a few titles in life, but the ones that she treasured the most were daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend.

She is survived by:  her siblings, Larry (Regina) Brown of Edna, KS, Dale (Deonna) Brown of Nickerson, KS, Judy Niehoff of Salina, KS, Susan Adkins of Topeka, KS, Mark (Edna) Brown of Woodward, OK, Debra Palmer of Nickerson, KS, Brenda Brown of Hutchinson, KS, Terri (Bill) Proffitt of Hutchinson, KS, Annabel (Larry) Stewart of South Hutchinson, KS, Todd (Kristie) Brown of Salina, KS, and Lori (Kevin) Olson of Stuart, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents.

Private graveside service will be Friday, January 14, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS, with Chaplain Caroline Morris officiating.  Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, through Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
