Janice "Jan" M. Roberts, loving wife, mother and grandmother, 70, took the hand of Jesus and passed from this world with her loving husband and two sons at her side, May 14, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She graduated with the class of 1958, from Hutchinson High School. She was born March 17, 1939, in Hutchinson, to Wayne and Margaret Trussel Davis.
A longtime Hutchinson resident having previously lived in Stafford, Hanover and Cheney, living those places due to her husband's employment, she was a homemaker who spent her married life totally dedicated to her family.
She attended the United Methodist Church, and was a Sunday School teacher while living in Cheney. She loved flower gardening, her pets, and cooking, which her family loved.
On Oct. 31, 1958, she married Stuart L. Roberts in Newton. He survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Bartt W. and Burtt D., both of Hutchinson; a brother, Jim Davis, Hutchinson; a stepbrother, Galen Millard, Valley Center; four grandsons, Matt and Chris Roberts, Hanover, Bryce and Brady Roberts, Hutchinson, they were the highlight of her life and she was dedicated to them, and a nephew, David Davis, Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Brett Roberts in 1969, and her stepmother, Lois Smith.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday May 20, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jim Rhaesa presiding. Graveside service will be at noon Wednesday May 20, 2009, in Fairview Cemetery, Cheney. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
