Janice L. Shelley, 71, died Friday, January 17, 2020. She was born October 5, 1948, in Great Bend to Charles Edward and Nila J. (Showalter) Harmony.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Janice was the owner of Jan's Beauty Salon.

Her grandkids were the greatest. She also loved caring for animals and baking cakes for many people.

Surviving Janice are; sons, Mike Childs of Hutchinson, Mark Childs and wife Lori of Edmond, Oklahoma; stepmother, Betty Harmony; stepson, Steven Shelley; stepfather, Leemonte Showalter of Oklahoma; siblings, Charles Harmony and wife Lora, Kenny Harmony, Beverly Harmony all of Hutchinson, and Gene Balsmeier of Idaho; step brother and step sister, Jimmy Showalter of Oklahoma and Linda Showalter and husband Donald of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Hollie Childs, Dustin Childs, Spencer Childs, Mariah Klusener, Crosby Childs and McKinley Childs; great-grandchildren, Kellen Childs, Oakley Childs and one on the way, Taliyah Childs, Aliciyceh Torres, Chloe Torres, Aiden West, Faivann Prebble, Hunter Prebble, Tommie Childs, Brentlee Childs and Wrynleigh Childs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouses, Morris 'Joe' Shelley and Ron Childs; step father, William Balsmeier; brother, Richard Harmony; and step brother, Larry Balsmeier.

A come and go celebration of life for Janice will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Anchor Inn. In lieu of flowers memorial suggestions are Hutchinson Animal Shelter or the church in care of  Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
