Obituary

Janice Marie Strickler, 71, died Sept. 5, 2012, in Hutchinson, Kan. She was born July 23, 1941, in Hutchinson, to Thomas Virgil and Violet Marie Waggoner Murphy.

She was a 1959 graduate of Hutchinson High School. She married Robert David Strickler on Nov. 5, 1960, in Hutchinson. He died Aug. 6, 1979. She retired on Jan. 13, 2005, from the Reno County Landfill as a clerk. Janice volunteered at the Salvation Army.

Survivors include: daughters, Brenda Timmermeyer and husband David of Colorado Springs, Colo., Teresa Chvilicek and husband Leonard of Derby, Kan.; lifetime partner, Leroy Hrabe of Burrton, Kan.; stepson, Scott Hrabe and friend Kelly French of Hutchinson, Kan.; sister, Barbara Bradford and husband Clarence of Nekoma, Kan.; brothers, Michael Murphy of Hutchinson, Kan., and Ronald Murphy and wife Carol of Banning, Calif.; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dustin Busick presiding. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the family to receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Council of Reno County or Salvation Army, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
