Janine Leona Osborn, 85, passed away Monday, October 26th, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Janine was born Saturday, January 18th, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas to her mother, Leona Willesen. Janine was raised in Hutchinson with her two brothers, Milton and Glen Willesen.
On July 13th, 1960, Janine gave birth to a daughter, Sheri Lynn (Leatherbury) McCoy. Later, on February 13th, 1963, Janine gave birth to a son, Scott Gene Leatherbury.
On December 8th, 1966, Janine married Donald Leatherbury, in Hutchinson. Janine and Don spent their years together as members of the Moose Lodge where they danced and played bingo. He preceded her in death, on March 5th, 1989.
On November 22nd, 1991, Janine married William (Bill) Osborn, in Hutchinson.
Janine worked for 20 years at the Kansas Wheat Commission and another 20 years at Collingwood Grain before retiring to spend time with her grandchildren and to travel with her husband, Bill.
Janine and Bill spent many years traveling the country in their motorhome with their beloved cat, Sophi. Their most loved destinations were Branson, Missouri and Mission, Texas. Janine and Bill wintered at J-Five RV Park in Texas, where they met many of their close friends. During their time in Texas, Janine learned to play the dulcimer, laughed over card games with friends, and crafted various goodies for her family and friends.
For many years Janine crocheted and made donations to Bridget’s Cradles, made quilts with a group of friends, and taught those around her how to sew, crochet, and craft too.
During the holidays she made coveted goody baskets for her family and friends; full of puppy chow, caramel corn, cheeseballs and many personalized treats.
Though Janine was always busy crafting, playing games, and spending time with loved ones, she always made time to watch the Kansas City Royals. Cheering on number 13, Salvador Perez, Janine collected Perez’s bobbleheads, baseballs, and was thrilled to catch a game at the stadium.
Janine touched a countless number of lives. She is remembered for her kindness, humor, and sense of adventure. She is dearly missed by her family, friends, and community.
