Janyce C. "Jan" Gaston, 70, died Aug. 23, 2008, at her home, Hutchinson.

She was born April 9, 1938, in Larned, the daughter of Charlie Frank and May Pauline Brewer Hiett. She graduated from Larned High School in 1956, and Hutchinson Junior College in 1985. She was a registered nurse at Wesley Towers.

She belonged to Faith Baptist Church and the local bridge club.

On Oct. 18, 1958, she married Darrell L. Gaston in Larned. He died Feb. 4, 2007.

Survivors include: a son, Tony W., Hutchinson; daughters, Sunny D. McElheny, Hutchinson, Debby J. McCormack, Topeka, and Vicky S. Cunningham, Vilseck, Germany; brothers, Robert J. Hiett and Rick L. Hiett, both of Houston; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Melvin Parrott presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Cremation has taken place.
