Obituary

Jared Riley Hughes, 25, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 4, 2008.

He was an amazing man full of love and life. He was an avid Tony Stewart fan and had a huge love for all types of racing and the outdoors. He deeply loved "his herd" - his family. Jared was born in Belleville, Kan., on Sept. 23, 1982, to David and Patti Hughes.

He graduated from Nickerson High School in 2001. Jared was a Sales Manager and "right-hand man" at his brother-in-law and sister's motorcycle shop, Streamline Performance (where he finally got employee of the month!). He attended Medora Community Bible Church.

Jared met Celeste Marie Hurley in Hutchinson, and united as one on June 9, 2007. They were blessed with a daughter, Tessa Marie. Jared's hero was "his baby girl."

Left to mourn Jared is "his herd": wife Celeste; daughter, Tessa; parents, David and Patti Hughes, all of Hutchinson; grandparents, Dave and Alice Hughes, Clyde, Mark and Dorothy Morgan, Concordia; brothers, Dave and wife Brandi Hughes, Overland Park, Shane and wife Kendra Hughes, Hutchinson, and George Krankenberg, Hudson; sister, Christi and husband Jeremy Edwards, Hutchinson; nieces and nephews, Brittany, Cheyenne, Maci, Presli, Mykah Edwards, Caleb, Carsyn, Caden, Carter, Maddox Hughes, and Tinley Travis; in-laws, Tom Bauer, Phyllis Bauer and Jay Hurley, all of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Abbey and husband Scott Travis, McPherson; brother-in-law, Adam Hurley, Olathe; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by his unborn child and an uncle, Richard Hughes.

His life will be celebrated at Medora Community Bible Church on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. The family requests NASCAR or your favorite sports attire to be worn. He will be laid to rest in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tessa Hughes Education Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
