Jay J. Schmucker's Obituary
Jay John Jacob Schmucker, 87, died Monday, March 5, 2012.
He was born at rural Sterling July 6, 1924, the son of Simon P. and Sybil Josephson Schmucker.
He was a 1942 Abbyville High School graduate, a member of the Christian Church, a farmer and a retired machinist from Cessna. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Lou Ann and Walter Abildgaard of Hutchinson and Javen L. and Beth of Newton; a sister, June Bachus of South Hutchinson; five grandchildren, Javen P. and Kasie of Tennessee, Marcie and Trent Arrowsmith of Newton, Wm. Miles Everhart of Hutchinson, Shelly and Doug Bird of Colwich, Phyllis and Dave Hoover of Hutchinson; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Bob Phipps officiating. Friends may sign his register book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Abbyville Community Church, in care of the mortuary.
