Jean M. Stratton, 91, of Hutchinson, died Friday, May 18, 2018, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born July 28, 1926, in McPherson, to August Hermann and Mae M. (Merrill) Base.

Jean graduated from McPherson High School in 1945.  She retired as a proofreader for the Hutchinson News, after 18 years of service.  Jean was also a homemaker and member of First Christian Church, Hutchinson.

On April 15, 1950, she married Ralph David Stratton.  He died February 12, 2004, after almost 54 years of marriage.

Jean is survived by:  sons, James Stratton (Cathy Cooper) of New Orleans, LA, John Stratton (Kathleen Ames-Stratton) of Lawrence; sister, Bonnie Barnett of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Madeline Stratton of New Orleans, LA; nephews, Scott Barnett, Brian Barnett (Dorothy), Richard Barnett (Melyn), all of Hutchinson; niece, Kathy Heinlein (Daryl) of Goddard; and special great-niece, Gina Williams of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Base.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bob Phipps officiating.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
