Schroeder
March 24, 1928 – June 18, 2021
(Velma) Jeanne Schroeder, 93, of Hutchinson, died June 18, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born March 24, 1928, in Emporia, to Otto J. and Ruth B. (Mast) Ziegler.
Jeanne graduated from Emporia High School in 1946, where she was salutatorian of her class, and Salt City Business College. She worked as an executive assistant at The Prudential for 30 years, retiring in 1989. Jeanne was a member of Salt City Rabbit Club, the Poultry Club, and the Iris Club. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Jeanne was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was a current member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
On June 1, 1947, she married Walter J.J. Schroeder Jr., in Olpe. They shared 51 years of marriage before his death on June 6, 1998.
Jeanne is survived by: her children, Karen Chadd (Lynn) of Hutchinson, Terry Schroeder (Mary) of Overland Park, Kathy Cutting (Randy) of Hutchinson, Timothy Schroeder (Janice) of Manhattan, Kristine Murphy (Glenn) of League City, TX, Thomas Schroeder (Kathy) of Andover, Karel King (Carl) of Hutchinson, Todd Schroeder (Angela) of Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Meeks (Flint) of Haysville; brothers, Stephen Ziegler (Linda) and Gary Ziegler (Mary), all of Emporia; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and brothers, James, Harold, and Wayne.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12 th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
