Jerald L. Way, 84, of Hutchinson, died Sept. 26, 2012, at Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson. Jerald was born Oct. 18, 1927, at Pratt, the son of Seth and Viola Wolfe Way. He was a graduate of Pratt High School and attended Pratt Junior College.

Jerald was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked nine years for Rock Island Railroad before going to work for Packaging Corp. of America/Republic Gypsum (now Sonoco), were he retired as a shift supervisor.

Jerald married Beverly L. Hartman on Aug. 19, 1958, in Roswell, N.M. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Brad Way and wife Brenda, Haysville; three daughters, Sandra Mourn, Hutchinson, Diane Unruh, Haysville, and Jan Jay, Nixa, Mo.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steven Way, and two brothers, Ellis Way and Dick Way.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Victor Halfmoon presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army National Guard Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Manor or Dillon Nature Center, both sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, Ks., 67501.
