Jerry H. Broadus, 81, went to be with his heavenly Father on July 10, 2015. He was born April 17, 1934, in Vernon, Texas, the son of W.J. and Irene (Markham) Broadus. He attended Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, and enjoyed fishing and camping with his beloved family and friends. Jerry worked at Hutchinson Community College for 22 years, retiring in 1990 as head groundskeeper.

On April 28, 1956, he married Donna J. Farney. She survives. Also surviving are: their children and spouses, Diane Thompson and Gary of South Hutchinson, Mark Broadus and Nancy of Tempe, Ariz.; four grandsons, Ethan and Braden Thompson, Erik and Jason Broadus. He was preceded in death by his parents and 16 siblings.

Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, Sterling, with Reverend Phil Carroll presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church or HCC Endowment Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
