Jerry Eugene Roberts, 79, died October 29, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born March 23, 1943, in El Dorado, to Eldon and Tressa (Cummings), Roberts.
Jerry graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961. He then worked for Republic Paperboard/Sonoco for 38 years, retiring in 2000. Jerry was a passionate Reserve Officer for the Hutchinson Police Department and the Reno County Sheriff's office from 1973 to 1985.
In addition, he was an avid racquetball player and KU basketball fan. Jerry was a cycling enthusiast that participated in "Bike Across Kansas" yearly for close to a decade. He was a known animal lover and considered his pets to be family. Jerry's favorite place to be was around a campfire, surrounded by friends and family. Above all, Jerry was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Jerry is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Nancy Roberts; daughters, Donita Perry (James) and Stephanie Roberts; son, J. Roberts; grandchildren, Bryant Roberts-Little, Brady Roberts (Amanda), Will Perry (Kalie), Baleigh Oakley, and Vaughan Roberts; great-granddaughter, Layney Roberts; sisters, Judy Voeltz, Kathy Yoder, Gayle Railsback, and JoLynne Seaton (Randy); sister-in-law, Kathy Roberts; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was proceeded in death by: his father, Eldon Roberts; mother, Tressa Cummings Roberts; brother, John Roberts; and infant daughter, Shelley Marie Roberts.
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 West 4 th Avenue, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice House or the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
