Obituary

Jim R. "Doc" Hoefer, 78, died July 6, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Hutchinson, the son of Melvin Fred and Audrey Fern Warrick Hoefer. He graduated in 1948, from Hutchinson High School. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, he was the retired owner of Doc Hoefer's Glass Shop.

He belonged to the Bob Campbell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1361, and the Lysle Rishel American Legion Post No. 68. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1947 to 1968.

On Dec. 29, 1959, he married Dee Fernandez in Raymond. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Mark Richard, Plano, Texas, and Joe Edward, Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Cindy Flickinger, Hutchinson; and a brother, Robert and his wife Esther Ann, Escondido, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry.

Cremation will take place. There will be no public services. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
