Obituary

Jim Shive, 64, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, died November 30, 2012, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

He was born July 15, 1948, in Santa Ana, CA, the son of Ernest Everett and Betty Ruth (Bomhoff) Shive. Jim was a longtime truck driver, working for Farmer's Oil, and had earned an award for driving a million miles with no accidents. He was also a member of the Hutchinson Watersports Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose #982.

On Feb. 21, 1966, he married Brenda Joyce Caley in Newton.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 46 years; four children, Allen Shive and wife Dawn of Mt. Hope, Pam Hudson and husband James of South Hutchinson, Scott Shive of Haven, and James Shive of Burrton; two brothers, Delbert Shive and wife Sue of Burrton, Craig Shive and wife Kay of Haven; five grandchildren, Renee Hudson, Josh Hudson, Eric Shive, Grace Shive, and Sydnee Shive; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Shive.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Donovan Graber presiding. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or Cerebral Palsy Foundation, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson KS 67501.
