Obituary

Jimmie L. Beltz, Sr., 78, of Hutchinson, died Aug. 31, 2011, at Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Hutchinson, the son of Henry Levi and Alvera Marie Moore Beltz.

He attended school in Hutchinson and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had owned and operated a mechanic shop in Enders, Neb. for 10 years before moving back to Hutchinson. He retired as shop Supt. at Reno County Public Works in Hutchinson.

Jimmie married Sally Lee Barney on Nov. 26, 1965, in Hutchinson. They were later divorced. Survivors include: two sons, Larry L. Beltz and his wife Marquette, and Jimmie L. Beltz Jr. and his wife Bev, all of South Hutchinson; three daughters, Virginia Phillips of Los Angeles, Calif., Christine Merten and her husband Ken of San Diego, Calif., and Vena Flax and husband Doug of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Lawrence L. Beltz of Hutchinson; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Levi Beltz Jr.; and three sisters, Ruby Elizabeth Beltz, Wanona Pauline Foth, and Georgia Marie Berry.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary, with Chaplain Randall Turner presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Fort Riley, Kan. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Care of Kansas or Mennonite Manor, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
