Obituary

Jimmie Duft, 81, died Dec. 28, 2005, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Neodesha, the son of James B. and Myrtle Hobbs Duft. A resident of Hutchinson since 1950, he was employed by Cargill Salt for 43 years. After retiring he was employed by USD 308 for 10 years.

He belonged to American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

On Sept. 28, 1946, he married Alice W. Elliott in Gothenburg, Neb. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Steve and Curtis, both of Hutchinson; two daughters, Kay Babcock, Hutchinson, and Paula Jo Gardner, Spring, Texas; four brothers, Willard, Sterling, Wilburt, Canon City, Colo., Donnie, Fredricksburg, Va., and Merle, Iola; a sister, Virginia Millis, Neodesha; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Duft, Wilma Merrick and Dorothy Cox.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Randy Duft presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
