Jimmie Byrum Jr., 74, died July 17, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born December 26, 1939, to Jimmie Sr. and Iva (Cloud) Byrum in Lequire, Okla.
He married Bonnie Bechthold Trapp on August 8, 1992, in Hutchinson, KS. She survives.
Jimmie was a rural route carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2004, after 27 years. He was a union member of the OKRLCA, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife; sons, Gary Byrum, Kinta, Okla., Larry Byrum, Texas, and Jerry Byrum and wife Amy, Midwest City, Okla.; daughter, Sherry Kueffler and husband Pat, Midwest City, Okla.; stepsons, Tim Trapp and wife Cindy, Nashville, Tenn., and Terry Trapp and wife Heather, Madisonville, Ky.; stepdaughter, Tammy Trapp, Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Houtz, Spirro, Okla.; brother, Harvey Joe Byrum, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Anna Byrum, and a brother, Charles "Jake" Byrum.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Ron Kite presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
