Joan M. Clough, 84, died June 8, 2014, at Emeritus Elm Grove Estates. She was born January 8, 1930, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Noah LeRoy and Gladys Robison Smith. She was a 1948 graduate of Will Rogers High School, Tulsa, OK. She attended Oklahoma Baptist College, Tulsa University and graduated from Northeastern State University in 1952.
Joan married Fred H. Clough November 26, 1952, in Tulsa, OK. They moved to Hutchinson in the late 1950's. Joan taught in elementary education in Emporia and Coffeyville and was a substitute teacher here in Hutchinson. She also worked as a title abstractor and was a homemaker.
She is survived by: her husband, Fred; sons, Mark of Olathe, Craig and his wife Debra of Newton; daughter, Karen Voller and her husband Larry of Omaha, NE; sister, Margaret Hill and her husband Henry of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 20, 2014, at the Elliott Chapel with Pastor Bones Nay officiating. A private family graveside service will be held prior. Friends may sign the register book today thru Friday at Elliott's and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Salvation Army of Hutchinson, KS Endowment Fund or Good Shepherd Hospice, both c/o Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, 67501.
