Joan Elizabeth Davis, 85, died March 27, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born November 7, 1929, in McCune, to Chester and Pauline (Dyer) Baker.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother who loved being with family whenever she could. As her kids were growing up she often chose jobs that involved being around them and other children, whether it be helping in the lunchroom, as an aide, or even doing janitorial work. Joan also volunteered for Hospice for many years.
She married Wylie Bronson on January 29, 1950, in McCune. They later divorced. Joan married Don W. Davis on June 2, 1972, in Medicine Lodge. He died June 12, 2001.
Other survivors include: her son, David Bronson and wife Carol, Sawyer; daughters, Linda Kopper, Hutchinson, and Tammy Davis and husband Curt, Joplin, Mo.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with two more that are due this year; stepson, David Davis; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Ralph Kopper, and two step-children Donna and Clinton.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, in Ellinwood Cemetery, Sawyer, with the Reverend Karen Lemon presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or the National Kidney Foundation, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
