Joan Pauline Rodgers, 85, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born November 4, 1932, in Halstead, the daughter of Homer and Pauline (Schaplowsky) Stewart. Joan graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1951 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Eastwood Church of Christ. On June 29, 1952, she married Glen V. Rodgers in Ponca City, OK. He died November 8, 2009.

Joan is survived by: sons, Bob Rodgers and his partner, Steven Applequist of San Diego, CA, and Mike Rodgers and wife Jackie of Palmdale, CA; daughter, Kathy Palmer and husband Brad of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Hope Rodgers; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Alan Stewart; sisters, Sara Stewart and Jean Newby; and stepson, Richard Rodgers.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Wayne DeWindt officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, with family to receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastwood Church of Christ, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
