JoAnn "Mama Jo" Feldman, 85, died Oct. 16, 2014, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born April 8, 1929, in Little River, Kan., to Joseph and Jessie (Bain) Rife.
On July 16, 1950, she married Norman J. Feldman in Lyons. He survives. She graduated from Lyons High School and from Brown Mackie Business College.
JoAnn was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was a home daycare provider for 47 years. Mama Jo, which the kids knew her as, had the biggest heart when it came to children. She cared, loved, and taught so many and her face would light up whenever a baby was placed in her arms. JoAnn was also a very loving wife, supportive mother, and the best grandmother anyone could ask for.
Survivors include: husband, Norman; daughters, Vickey Jackson (Bill), Hutchinson, Jan Shorter (Larry), Wichita; son, Jerry Feldman (Brenda), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jason Jackson (Tara), Jennifer Jackson, Jessica Sramek (Carey), Jessica Schoenhofer (Brad), Jacklyn Betteridge (Paul), Erick Shorter (Kat), Joshua Shorter (Karyn), Katlyn Shorter; sisters, Josephine Yager, Minneapolis, Joyce Clark, Kingman; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean O'Dell.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Bones Nay and the Rev. Doug Wyatt presiding. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, in Lyons Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
