Joanne Deming, 77, of Claremore, Okla., died Jan. 3, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 10, 1933, in Riverside, Calif., to Halbert R. and Anna Myrtle Heflin Duncan.
She was a resident of Claremore, Okla., and lived in Hutchinson from 1955 to 1974. In the 1950's, Joanne was a pop/jazz singer with several bands. She was a retired correspondence analyst with Oral Roberts Prayer Tower. Her husband, Vern, was a CB radio repairman and Joanne was an avid CB'er with her own show and was well-known by her handle "Green Eyes".
She married Vern Deming on March 13, 1954, in Albuquerque, NM. He survives. Other survivors include: granddaughters, Misty Arnold and husband William of Hutchinson and Kathleen Lancaster and husband Ken of Bella Vista, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Luke Lancaster of Bella Vista, Ark.; brother, Stephen LeRoy Stone and wife Linda of Salt Lake City, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Eugene Deming.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date here in Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice and Homecare of Reno County in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
