Joanne Marie (Weiss) Hoefer, 79, of Hutchinson, passed away May 28, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 25, 1936, in Hutchinson, the daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Eveleen Weiss.

She was a graduate of the Class of 1954 from Esbon Rural High School, and Fort Hays School of Nursing Class of 1958. She was a retired nurse with a career covering nearly 50 years. Joanne was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. She had a mischievous smile and a great sense of humor. Joanne enjoyed people, gardening, music, crafts, Buhler High School football and Jayhawk basketball.

She is survived by: her two sons, David Hoefer of Partridge, Doug Hoefer of Kansas City, Mo.; and a brother, Joseph Weiss Jr. of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Hoefer, and her sisters, Lillian James and Elsie Goatley.
Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery and Reverend Jim Rhaesa presiding.
