Obituary

Joe H. Krehbiel, 88, went to be with the Lord, May 24, 2014, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. He was born April 28, 1926, on the farm in Pretty Prairie, Kansas, the son of Peter J. and Rosa (Graber) Krehbiel. Joe graduated from Pretty Prairie High School. He was a farmer and a dairyman. Joe was a longtime member of the First Mennonite Church in Pretty Prairie and was currently a member of Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson.

On March 23, 1951, he married Betty Waltner at the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Krehbiel; three children, Kathy Hunt and husband Jim of Norman, Okla., Kirby Krehbiel and wife Mary, and Steve Krehbiel and wife Alice, all of Hutchinson; six grandchildren, Joe Hunt and wife Pam, Spencer Hunt and wife Tiffany, Allison and Diane Krehbiel, and Zac and Ben Krehbiel; and two great-granddaughters, Caroline, and Claire Hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, John, Irvin, Herman, Harvey, Fred, Edwin "Bud", Elmer, and Clarence Krehbiel, and a sister, Edna Flickner.

Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson, with Pastors Eric Miller and Howard Wagler presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday with family to greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the church, Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson, or Mennonite Friendship Communities, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
