Joe C. Phleger, 91, died March 20, 2007, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg.
He was born March 2, 1916, in Hutchinson, the son of Arthur and Elva Green Phleger. In 1934, he graduated from Hutchinson High School. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, he had worked for Beach Electric and Johnson Sheet Metal before owning and operating Phleger Heating and Air Conditioning Co., retiring in 1976.
He was a charter member of Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson. He was also a member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68 and the Hutchinson Gem and Mineral Club. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.
On Sept. 18, 1936, he married Neva A. Preheim in Hutchinson. She died May 22, 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, Jay and wife, Fran, Kansas City, and Gary and wife, Kathy, Lindsborg; two daughters, Vicky Sayers and husband, Dennis, Fairfield, Calif., and Leanne Dodge and husband Alan, Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gail.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
