William Joseph 'Joe' Wakefield, 55, died October 7, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born December 23, 1963, in Hutchinson, the son of Donald F. and Edith M. (Jackson) Wakefield.  Joe graduated from Buhler high school in 1982 and from Central Kansas Area Vo-tech. He worked as a welding supervisor at Deluxe Tank and then for the last 10 years as the mechanic at the Kansas State Fair. Joe loved racing and fishing. He was a member of CrossPoint Church, Hutchinson.

On May 12, 2012, Joe married Jacquelyn 'Jackie' Lawrence in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Carmen Wille (Clint), Nickerson, Codey Wakefield, Hutchinson, Amanda Trammel, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Lillian, Simon, and Hannah Wille, Jonathan Trammel; mother, Edith Wakefield, Hutchinson; brother, David Wakefield, Hutchinson; father and mother-in-law, George and Alta Lawrence, Hutchinson; and his 'favorite child', Donatello, a Blue Heeler mix who was his constant companion.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Donald.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Atherton officiating. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday thru Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.
