Joel David Goering, 66, died March 7, 2015, at his home in Burrton. He was born Aug. 16, 1948, in Wichita, to John D. and Martha F. (Friesen) Goering.

Joel was a 1966 graduate of Burrton High School and a member of Faith Community Bible Church in Burrton. He was enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1969 to 1971. He was a farmer at heart, also working as a custodian for Yoder Charter Schools and was quality control manger for Skyline.

On May 25, 1968, Joel married Linda Lee Busby in Gibraltar, Mich. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Jon Goering and wife Shelley of Detroit, Mich., Aaron Goering and fiancee Jessica Davis of Bedford, Va., Benjamin Goering and wife Tara of Omaha, Neb., Joel Goering Jr. and wife Rachel of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Jonathan, Karalynn, Jenna, Sydney, Sarah, Ethan and Jacob; brother, Richard Goering and wife Sharon of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Travis Heneha presiding. Cremation will take place following the service. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
