John G. Baird's Obituary
John Gordon Baird, 91, died Feb. 19, 2008, at Brandon Woods Health Center, Lawrence.
He was born March, 1, 1916, in Vesper, the son of John C. and Julia Corbett Baird. He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1934. A longtime Hutchinson area resident, he moved to Lawrence in 2005, he was a retired electrician.
He formerly belonged to First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and the Central United Methodist, in Lawrence, I.B.E.W. Union No. 661. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
On April 2, 1951, he married Norma Jean Roll, in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Ted. G. and wife, Katherine, Lenexa, Jim and wife, Joan,Overland Park; a daughter, Linda Frost and husband Victor, Lawrence; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by, two sisters, Corinne Baird; and Lola Mathews.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary. A private family graveside service will follow the funeral in Fairlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Dick Weaver presiding.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the donor's choice in care of the mortuary.
