John Clark Cowl, 41, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014. He was born May 31, 1972, to Clark R. and Debbie K. (Hubert) Cowl in Wichita, Kan.

Affectionately known as "JC" or "Little John", his kindness and willingness to always lend a helping hand earned him many friends. John was a graduate of Buhler High School. He earned a degree in Turf Management from Western Texas College and worked on golf courses in Colorado, Texas, Kentucky, and Kansas.

He is survived by his parents; sister, Addie York and her husband Brian of Wichita, Kan.; fiancé, Kayla Smith of Hutchinson; son, Logan Smith; daughter, Savannah, who will be born in May; and grandmother, Wanda Murphy of Wellington, Kan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Anna Hubert; and grandfather, John Henry Cowl.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at The Hutchinson Ramada, in the Endeavor I room, where friends and family are invited to share their favorite memories of John. John's love of music will be shared along with refreshments. Memorials may be made to the John Cowl Children's Education Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
