John E. Moore, 88, of Hutchinson, went to be with his Savior on Sept. 2, 2010, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. He was born November 20, 1921 in Hutchinson, the son of Eugene Wesley and Linnie Foster Eastman Moore. He attended schools in Hutchinson, and attended First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the medical corps in Europe in World War II. He served in Normandy, Northern France, and central Europe. He was a self-employed painter & wall paper hanger. He also was active assisting Lucille with Faris P.T.A. functions for many years.
John married Lucille Dawson on October 10, 1943 in Hutchinson. She died Dec. 23, 2009. Survivors include: daughters, Connie Douglas and husband Darrell, Emporia, Barbara Dodd and husband Bill, Wichita, and Debbie Blew and husband Gregg, Denver, Colo.; sons, Larry Moore and wife Vicki, and Jerry Moore and wife Margaret, all of Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles Moore; sisters, Louisa Moore, Grace Dunn, Florence Holmes and Ruth Clark.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary with Pastor Luke Helmuth and Rev. Stephen Taylor presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
