Greer
September 5, 1920 – March 13, 2019
John Marion Greer, 98, of Langdon, died on March 13, 2019, at Homestead Leisure in Stafford. He was born September 5, 1920, to Fred and Matilda (Raines) Greer near Langdon.
He married Virginia Cunningham Wells on September 4, 1948, at Langdon. She proceeded him in death on April 28, 2018.
John attended school in Langdon and graduated from Langdon High School in 1939. After high school, he attended the Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed being a sports spectator. John loved reading, especially his newspapers. He enjoyed his pet Collies and sharing stories of their intelligence. He thrived on buying and selling farm machinery and especially loved the chase of a bargain.
John was a member of the Turon Community Church.
He was preceded in death by: his wife; parents; sister, Frances Raines; infant brother, Lawrence; and stepson, Ron Wells.
John is survived by: grandson, Scott Wells and wife Penny of Dodge City; granddaughter, Terri Nazarenus and husband Corbin of Divide, CO; three great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a niece; two nephews; and special friend, Karen Moore.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Turon Community Church, 411 Main St, Turon, KS, with Pastor Steve Gill presiding. Burial will follow at Langdon Cemetery. Friends may sign the book Sunday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
