John B. Grimes, 71, of Hutchinson, died October 20, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita.  He was born February 19, 1949, in Youngstown, OH, to John Bryarly and Dora Marie Grimes.

John graduated from Sebring High School, Sebring, OH, and the University of Michigan.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  John taught high school for several years, and then went to work as a driver for the United Parcel Service, retiring after 25 years of service.

He married Michelle David on June 19, 2013, in Las Vegas, NV.

John is survived by:  his wife, Michelle Grimes of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Tony David of Shawnee, Stephanie (Ryan) Suppes of Hutchinson, Sean David (girlfriend, Becky Schraeder) of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Maddy, Kenzie, Lincoln, Cole, and Carinn; and sister, Jet Ann (Gary) Porter of Sebring, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Charlotte.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.  Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2020, through Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
